Dykema, a national law firm, added Brent W. Procida as a member in the firm’s financial services litigation practice group, resident in the Washington, D.C., office. He joins Dykema after practicing at Venable for more than 20 years.

Procida is an experienced litigator whose practice focuses on creditors’ rights and complex commercial litigation. He represents business and financial institution clients in workout negotiations, debt restructuring matters, lender liability disputes and bankruptcy litigation. He has extensive experience advising clients in high-stakes financial disputes involving commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS) servicing, bond litigation and distressed commercial real estate matters. In addition, he has successfully advocated for clients in complex appellate matters in state and federal courts.

Over the course of his career, Procida has represented financial services clients in significant workout and restructuring matters, including mortgage loan defaults, hotel bankruptcies and lender liability litigation. He also has substantial experience defending and prosecuting claims arising in bankruptcy proceedings and complex commercial disputes.

“Brent’s extensive experience representing financial institutions and creditors in sophisticated bankruptcy and restructuring matters adds significant depth to our financial services litigation capabilities, particularly in the CMBS special servicer realm,” Ed Weil, national co-leader of Dykema’s commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS) practice, said. “His practical, strategic approach to favorably resolving complex disputes will be a tremendous asset to our clients and our team.”

Procida earned a J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law and a B.A. in economics from the University of Notre Dame.
