Mayer Brown added Brian Trudgen to its Chicago office as a partner in its global leveraged finance and private capital group. He joins from Jones Day.

“We are delighted to welcome Brian, who brings more than two decades of practice and a wealth of experience advising clients, including a number of large and important financial institutions, private credit firms and public and private companies on a variety of complex financings,” Fred Fisher, co-head of the global leveraged finance and private capital group at Mayer Brown, said. “His addition strongly aligns with our dedication to continue to build our existing best in class finance practice and our strategic goal of adding depth to a number of key areas where we see continued growth, specifically within banks and other regulated financial institutions and private credit markets.”

Trudgen has been a key advisor to a number of clients in a broad range of financing matters across various structures and industries, including manufacturing, technology, energy, gaming, government contracting, transportation and financial services. He has extensive experience in structuring and negotiating various financing arrangements, such as investment-grade unsecured credits, syndicated loans, leveraged loans, asset-based lending and variety of in and out-of-court restructurings.

“I am thrilled to join Mayer Brown’s market-leading finance practice, who are at the forefront of advising on the complex features of the growing private credit market,” Trudgen said. “The firm’s depth and breadth will enable me to work with lawyers from several practices to anticipate and address most any legal matter that arises in a transaction, and to provide clients deeper market insights and more effective execution.”

“We are delighted to have Brian join the firm and to welcome him to the Chicago office,” Joanna Horsnail, the managing partner of Mayer Brown’s Chicago office, said. “The addition of Brian is part of our continued growth in Chicago in our finance group and across our office more broadly. His extensive experiencing representing a variety of leading banks, direct lenders, public and private companies and private equity firms, will significantly enhance our capabilities to meet the increasing demands of our clients.”

Trudgen is the latest partner to join Mayer Brown’s banking and finance practice following the recent hiring of Blaise Latella, Sheel Patel, Rudgee S. Charles and Jeff O’Connor.
