Dechert added Jason Gott as a partner in its financial restructuring practice, based in Chicago. Gott’s arrival bolsters Dechert’s restructuring presence in Chicago and deepens the firm’s borrower-side bench nationally.
“We are thrilled to welcome a restructuring lawyer of Jason’s caliber to the firm,” Dave Forti, co-chair of Dechert, said. “His arrival marks an important step in extending our restructuring capabilities into a key market and is a testament to the continued growth we have been seeing across the firm.”
Mike Poulos, vice chairman and global head of strategy at Dechert, added, “We’re incredibly proud of the team we’ve been building at our new Chicago office, and the talent we’ve brought together reflects the kind of presence we want to have in one of the country’s most dynamic legal markets. Jason is an important part of that momentum, he’s a proven practitioner who strengthens our rapidly growing borrower-side restructuring practice and brings exactly the capabilities our clients need on the ground in Chicago.”
Gott’s practice is predominantly borrower-side, advising companies and their sponsors in distressed situations, strategic processes, liability management transactions, out-of-court restructurings, Chapter 11 proceedings and cross-border restructurings. He also represents purchasers in the acquisition of assets in or out of bankruptcy and lenders and creditors in workouts and bankruptcies.
“I’m excited about the ambitious growth trajectory of Dechert’s financial restructuring practice and the opportunity to help build it further in Chicago,” Gott said. “Dechert offers me the ability to work seamlessly within a platform that strongly values cross-practice collaboration and will allow me to deliver the kind of integrated solutions my clients expect during their most critical moments.”
