Ameris Bank Strengthens S.C. Leadership with Market Presidents in Midlands, Charleston and Greenville

Marvin Robinson has been named Midlands market president; P.J. Watson has joined Ameris Bank as Charleston market president; and Dustin Morris has been promoted to Greenville market president.

Ameris Bank is strengthening its leadership in South Carolina with the appointment of market presidents in the Midlands, Charleston and Greenville, three important growth areas across the state.

  • Marvin Robinson has been named Midlands market president, overseeing Ameris Bank’s commercial and retail banking operations throughout the Lexington and Columbia areas.
  • J. Watson has joined Ameris Bank as Charleston market president, leading market strategy, customer relationships and business development efforts across the Charleston region.
  • Dustin Morris has been promoted to Greenville market president, where he will lead the bank’s Greenville market and support continued growth across the region.

“Marvin, P.J. and Dustin bring proven banking experience, strong relationship-building skills and deep knowledge of their communities to these leadership roles,” Richard Sturm, regional president at Ameris Bank, said. “Their leadership will help us continue serving customers, supporting local businesses and growing Ameris Bank’s presence across South Carolina.”

Marvin Robinson joined Ameris Bank in 2020 and most recently served as Richland County market president. He earned a bachelor of science in business administration from The Citadel and is a graduate of both the South Carolina Bankers School and the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University (LSU).

A dedicated community leader, Robinson is a graduate of Leadership Lexington County and Leadership Columbia. He serves as chairman of the Tax and Accommodations Committee for the Town of Lexington and as a course coordinator with the South Carolina Bankers School board of directors.

He is past chairman of the Young Bankers Division of the South Carolina Bankers Association served with the Lexington Chamber and Visitors Center Board of Directors, the Lexington/Richland Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council Foundation Board of Directors and the Graduate School of Banking at LSU’s Board of Trustees.

P.J. Watson brings nearly 30 years of commercial banking experience to Ameris Bank. He most recently was a commercial banking relationship manager with First Citizens Bank handling complex deal negotiation, loan structuring and credit assessment. Previously, Watson spent 16 years with BB&T in Charleston, building expertise in commercial lending and relationship management. He began his banking career in credit management in Atlanta, gaining foundational experience in credit analysis and risk evaluation. Watson is a graduate of Wofford College and is actively engaged in the Charleston community through a range of nonprofit and civic organizations.

Dustin Morris joined Ameris Bank in 2014 as a commercial underwriting analyst and portfolio manager and has spent the past decade in commercial sales, where he specializes in middle market C&I and CRE transactions while building strong customer relationships.

Originally from West Virginia, Morris has lived in South Carolina for 18 years, including the last 10 in Greenville. He graduated from Fairmont State University, the South Carolina Bankers School, the Graduate School of Banking at LSU and Leadership Greenville Class 45. He earned the Chartered Banking Professional designation and serves on the South Carolina Bankers Association Emerging Leaders Board and Greenville Chamber Advisory Board.
