Mark Pickering brings more than 30 years of experience in commercial finance, with extensive expertise in asset-based lending, transaction origination, underwriting, portfolio management, collateral diligence and business development.

Archway FinCo, a national private credit firm providing tailored capital solutions to middle-market companies, added Mark Pickering as managing director, further strengthening Archway’s asset-based lending capabilities and expanding the depth of experience available to its clients and referral partners.

Pickering brings more than 30 years of experience in commercial finance, with extensive expertise in asset-based lending, transaction origination, underwriting, portfolio management, collateral diligence and business development. Throughout his career, he has worked closely with middle-market companies, private equity sponsors, financial institutions, investment banks and restructuring professionals to structure financing solutions across various business situations.

Most recently, Pickering served as managing director and co-head of the commercial finance group at SG Credit Partners, where he helped establish and launch the firm’s asset-based lending platform. His responsibilities included originations, deal execution, collateral monitoring, portfolio management, credit processes and development of the group’s go-to-market strategy.

Prior to SG Credit Partners, Pickering held senior roles with Gibraltar Business Capital and Ares Management, where he focused on originating and structuring senior debt facilities for private equity-backed and independent middle-market companies. Earlier in his career, he held underwriting, portfolio management and business development positions with SunTrust Bank, Guaranty Business Credit and Fleet Capital.

“Mark brings the kind of broad, hands-on lending experience that is central to how we are building Archway,” Andy McGhee, founder and CEO of Archway FinCo, said. “He understands credit, but, just as importantly, he understands businesses, sponsors and the relationships that drive our industry. He has built lending platforms, structured complex transactions and worked alongside companies through different stages of growth and transition. We’re excited to have him on our team as we continue expanding Archway’s capabilities and reach.”

Pickering began his professional career in public accounting with KPMG and later served as director of lender services for Moore Colson CPAs & Advisors, where he trained and managed teams conducting financial and collateral due diligence for lenders throughout the Southeast. He earned a bachelor of science in business administration with concentrations in accounting and finance from the State University of New York at Buffalo and previously held a New York State CPA license.

He has also been actively involved in the commercial finance community for nearly three decades. Pickering has been a member of the Secured Finance Network’s Atlanta Chapter since 1997 and served on its board of directors from 2010 through 2026. He is also a longtime member of the Georgia Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association and the Association for Corporate Growth.

“Archway has assembled a team with tremendous experience and a clear commitment to approaching lending differently,” Pickering said. “What attracted me is the opportunity to combine disciplined credit with creativity and a genuine partnership mindset. Middle-market companies need capital partners who understand where they are trying to go and can structure financing around that strategy. I’m looking forward to working with Andy and the entire Archway team to help clients and referral partners find the right path forward.”

Pickering will be based in Atlanta.
