City National Bank has appointed Joe Yurosek as president of Commercial Banking, the company announced.

Yurosek, who brings more than 30 years of experience in financial services, will be based in Los Angeles. He will oversee several critical business lines, including commercial and corporate banking, specialty banking, capital markets, commercial real estate, credit products and middle market banking.

“Joe is a dynamic leader with an unmatched understanding of commercial banking and a strong commitment to ensuring clients are successful,” said Howard Hammond, president and CEO of City National Bank. “He will be instrumental in shaping our strategy and ensuring we continue to provide businesses with the financial resources they need to grow.”

Yurosek most recently served as Regional President Western Markets at Fifth Third Bank, where he led the middle market expansion in California and Texas. His oversight included commercial banking, real estate, treasury management, and wealth and asset management, among other services.

“I am delighted to join City National at such a pivotal time,” Yurosek said. “There is tremendous opportunity to strengthen our client relationships, and I look forward to working with this talented team to drive growth and deliver exceptional financial solutions.”

Yurosek previously held leadership roles at Comerica Bank. He earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo and an MBA in finance from the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business.

City National Bank, a subsidiary of Royal Bank of Canada, is the largest bank headquartered in Los Angeles, with $90 billion in assets as of Jan. 31. The bank operates in markets including Southern California, San Francisco, New York, Nashville, Atlanta, and Miami. In 2024, City National donated nearly $10 million to nonprofit organizations.
