The Wall Street Journal reported that despite a unexpected rebound in brick and mortar stores last year and strong consumer spending, malls are continuing to struggle.
According to the Journal, despite efforts of brick and mortar stores to upgrade and improve the shopping environment, sales have slipped following the holiday season and mall vacancies are up.
