Willkie Farr & Gallagher added Nikita Kumar as a partner in the restructuring department, based in the firm’s London office.
“We’ve seen the global restructuring landscape become increasingly complex, with cross-border work on the rise and private credit gaining significant traction across global markets,” Graham Lane, co-chair of Willkie’s European restructuring group, said. “Nikita is a highly talented restructuring lawyer with a strong track record of managing successful restructuring matters in the UK and across Europe. Her addition is a natural complement to our growing global platform and we are delighted to welcome her to Willkie.”
Marc Hecht, London partner of Willkie, who joined the firm at the beginning of the year to further bolster the European restructuring group, added, “Nikita’s arrival further strengthens our cross-border capabilities and builds on Willkie’s rapid growth as a leading restructuring practice with a globally integrated team across the UK, France, Germany and the U.S. Her deep experience advising on complex restructurings, including those involving private credit, will be of significant value to our clients in the European restructuring market and globally,” added London partner
Kumar counsels clients on domestic and cross-border stressed and distressed situations, including debt restructurings and liability management exercises. She has represented a variety of stakeholders, including creditors, debtors, sponsors and insolvency practitioners, on various restructuring matters. Kumar also has significant experience advising funds on private credit restructurings in recent years. She joins Willkie from Simpson Thacher.
“Willkie’s global restructuring platform and its leading reputation across the U.S., UK and Europe present a tremendous opportunity for the next phase of my practice,” Kumar said. “I am thrilled to join the talented team in London, and I look forward to contributing to the continued growth of our restructuring offering to clients across the firm.”
