White Oak Commercial Finance (WOCF), an affiliate of White Oak Global Advisors, added Mark Buren to its originations team as managing director. Based in Baltimore, Buren will focus on originating asset-based lending opportunities and expanding WOCF’s relationships with borrowers and intermediaries across the United States.

Buren brings nearly four decades of commercial lending and asset-based finance experience. Most recently, he served as managing director of business development at Huntington Business Credit, where he originated asset-based and lender-financed transactions across the Mid-Atlantic and New York markets. Previously, he held senior business development roles at CIBC Business Credit, AloStar Business Credit, Wells Fargo Capital Finance, Merrill Lynch Capital Healthcare Finance, CIT Business Credit and other financial institutions.

“Mark brings tremendous experience in asset-based lending and a strong track record of helping businesses identify financing solutions that meet their needs,” Kevin Cox, partner and head of capital markets for WOCF, said. “As we continue to expand our originations capabilities and focus on new business, his experience and relationships will be a valuable addition to the team.”

Buren added, “I’ve spent my career working with middle-market companies to structure financing around their assets, operating needs and growth objectives, and I’m excited to bring that experience to WOCF. The firm’s breadth of financing capabilities and commitment to providing flexible capital to businesses make this a compelling platform, and I look forward to helping expand our reach in the market.”

Buren holds an MBA from the University of Baltimore and a B.S. in finance from Towson University. He is a member of the Secured Finance Network, Turnaround Management Association and Association for Corporate Growth.
