Tarter Krinsky & Drogin added David Lackowitz and Zaid Shukri as partners in the litigation practice.

Lackowitz and Shukri join Tarter Krinsky & Drogin from Moses & Singer, where they each spent more than a decade representing clients in high-stakes disputes in state and federal courts across the country. They bring considerable appellate and trial experience, and broad industry knowledge.

“We are thrilled to welcome David and Zaid,” Alan Tarter, managing partner of Tarter Krinsky & Drogin, said. “Their skill and dedication to client service embody our values, and their arrival reflects our commitment to strategically growing our litigation capabilities.”

Lackowitz most recently served as chair of Moses & Singer’s litigation practice. With more than 20 years of experience, he has successfully handled shareholder derivative suits, professional liability, business, real estate, banking, family, construction and employment matters. Lackowitz has counseled clients through regulatory investigations and has successfully handled numerous appeals before the First and Second Departments of the Appellate Division, and the Second Circuit.  He has also successfully tried cases before the Supreme Court of the State of New York and the Delaware Chancery Court and various arbitration tribunals. Earlier in his career, he served as an assistant district attorney in Kings County, where he prosecuted high-profile felony cases and tried numerous bench and jury trials.

Shukri is a skilled trial and appellate lawyer who represents clients in high-stakes commercial disputes across industries such as real estate, financial services, media, entertainment and fashion. He has litigated cases in state and federal courts on behalf of real estate developers, angel investors, construction firms, apparel manufacturers and major financial institutions. He has achieved optimal results in cases involving a wide range of claims, including fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, veil piercing, tortious interference, discrimination, unfair competition, copyright and trademark infringement and breach of contract. Additionally, Shukri has successfully litigated contested probate and estate matters in Surrogate’s Court, as well as proceedings before the American Arbitration Association, New York City Commission on Human Rights and the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.

“David and Zaid are highly respected litigators with outstanding trial and appellate credentials,” Andrew Krinsky, chair of the litigation practice, said. “They bring exceptional insight and experience that will benefit our clients facing complex disputes.”

Lackowitz is rated by Martindale-Hubbell as AV Preeminent in his field and has annually been designated as a Super Lawyer from 2015-2025. He earned a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law.

Shukri was named a Rising Star by Super Lawyers from 2018-2023. He earned a J.D. from Brooklyn Law School, where he served as notes and comments editor of the Brooklyn Law Review.
