Matt Simon joined Great Rock Capital, an asset-focused commercial finance company specializing in middle-market lending, as managing director of originations. Simon will be based in Atlanta and is responsible for expanding origination efforts in Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee while also working with Lori Potter, managing director of originations, in the Florida market.

“We are happy to welcome Matt to the team,” Stuart Armstrong, CEO of Great Rock Capital, said. “Matt’s extensive lending and credit expertise, coupled with his long-standing relationships in the Southeast, will add immediate value in driving our continued growth in this very important market.”

Simon joins Great Rock with more than 20 years of experience in middle-market lending. Most recently, he was a senior vice president at Huntington National Bank, where he primarily focused on originating asset-based transactions. In addition, Simon previously held origination roles with UMB Bank, First Capital and Guaranty Business Credit. He is a former board member and past president of the Secured Finance Network’s Atlanta chapter.

“I am thrilled to join the Great Rock team and look forward to leveraging my relationships and industry experience to help support the continued growth of the platform,” Simon said. “The term-only and term-heavy financing structures offered by Great Rock, provide middle market companies with an expanded opportunity to maximize liquidity and execute on their growth initiatives.”

“I am excited to join forces with Matt and expand Great Rock’s footprint across the Southeast,” Potter said. “There is an abundance of middle market companies in this region that will benefit from the liquidity and growth capital provided by the firm’s creative financing structures.”
