Great American Group Advisory & Valuation Services, a provider of advisory and valuation services and a wholly-owned subsidiary of B. Riley Financial, appointed Stephen Shelton managing director with the firm’s appraisal business in New York.

In his new role, Shelton will be responsible for assisting lenders, private equity firms, hedge funds, attorneys and various corporate clients on appraisal and valuation engagements. In addition to identifying opportunities to expand the firm’s appraisal business and client base in the New York metropolitan area, Shelton will seek to identify synergistic opportunities across the B. Riley Financial platform.

Shelton brings over 30 years of experience in banking, investment banking, and financial consulting, specializing in asset-based lending, structured finance, investment banking, commercial lending, credit analysis and business planning.

“I’m excited to welcome Stephen to the team,” said Michael Marchlik, CEO of Great American Group Appraisal. “We continue to look for ways to enhance our appraisal business and Stephen’s extensive experience and reach in the New York metropolitan area will further enable us to grow and identify new areas for opportunities.”

Prior to joining the firm, Shelton serves as a senior vice president for Business Development for Marquette Business Credit where he established a loan production office in New York. His background includes origination, underwriting and portfolio experience with PNC Business Credit, GE Capital and BBVA. Throughout his career, he has specialized in marketing financial products to senior management of middle-market companies and private equity sponsors and has a successful track record of developing market areas and industry segments.

Shelton commented, “Great American’s strong reputation in the industry, combined with its unique access to the resources across B. Riley Financial, makes this is a compelling opportunity for me. I’m excited to join the team and contribute to the firm’s future successes.”

Drew Jakubek, National Marketing Manager for Great American Group Appraisal, added, “I’ve known Stephen for over 20 years and have seen his ability to bring an innovative approach to business development. The level of integrity he puts forth in his work will bring a valued experience to our clients in New York. I look forward to working with him and see him flourish in this new role.”
