Runway Growth Capital, a provider of growth loans to venture and non-venture backed companies seeking an alternative to raising equity, promoted Greg Greifeld to chief investment officer. In his new role, Greifeld will oversee Runway’s investment strategy, deal structuring and portfolio management as the firm continues its mission of providing flexible financing solutions to high-growth companies.

Greifeld, who previously served as managing director, deputy chief investment officer, and head of credit at Runway, will take on an expanded leadership role in Runway’s investment decisions, working to enhance underwriting discipline, expand industry relationships and identify strategic growth opportunities. His promotion recognizes his significant contributions to Runway’s investment platform, credit processes and portfolio performance.

“Greg’s leadership and deep understanding of growth lending markets have been instrumental to Runway’s success,” David Spreng, founder and CEO of Runway, said. “As CIO, Greg will continue to shape and strengthen our investment strategy, ensuring we provide the most effective capital solutions for our borrowers while delivering strong returns for our investors. His expertise in structuring deals and managing risk has made him an invaluable leader within our firm.”

Under Greifeld’s leadership, Runway has developed industry-leading underwriting, monitoring and portfolio management tools that have contributed to its track record of strong credit performance. He was recognized in Venture Capital Journal’s “40 Rising Stars Under 40” and Private Debt Investor’s “Rising Stars 2020” for his role in advancing the firm’s investment strategies and operational efficiency.

“It’s an honor to step into the role of chief investment officer at Runway,” Greifeld said. “Runway has built a best-in-class investment platform that provides critical growth capital to innovative companies. I look forward to leading our investment team as we continue to support entrepreneurs and scale businesses in a disciplined, risk-aware manner.”
