PNC Names Leaders of New Houston Banking Team

PNC Bank’s new Houston banking team will be led by Julie Young Sudduth, who will serve as the regional president. Joining Sudduth will be Christian Brown, head of Corporate Banking for the Houston market, and Thomas Byargeon, who leads PNC’s Energy Group.

Last July, the company announced expansion plans to introduce its regional leadership model to Houston, a market where PNC’s Corporate and Institutional Banking already has a significant local presence including the Energy Group and PNC Business Credit, as well as employees in Retail Lending, Audit, Risk and Technology. The company also plans to add a client and community relations director in the market to deepen PNC’s involvement and visibility in the region.

“We’ve already seen great success in Houston with our national businesses, and are optimistic about the opportunities this expansion will present for continued growth – both on business and civic fronts,” said Louis R. Cestello, executive vice president and head of PNC’s Regional Markets. “Julie is an experienced banker with deep roots in Houston, and she is joined by Christian and Tom who each add significant value with their combined industry expertise, making them the ideal team to lead PNC’s efforts in the market.”

Sudduth comes to PNC from IBERIABANK, where she most recently served as executive vice president, leading the syndications division. She was responsible for origination, structuring and distribution of all senior debt facilities arranged by IBKC, as well as creating and managing the special operations division. Sudduth was a member of IBKC’s original management team to grow a denovo franchise in Texas. Previously, she served in multiple leadership positions at Amegy Bank, focused on syndications, corporate banking, special assets and credit risk management.

Brown joined PNC nearly 24 years ago and has held various leadership roles during this time in both Corporate and Institutional Banking and Retail Banking. Most recently, he served as a managing director and senior relationship manager responsible for the development and growth of large corporate relationships in Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana.

Byargeon joined PNC five years ago as managing director and head of PNC’s Energy Group. Previously, he served as managing director and head of Upstream Oil and Gas for Credit Agricole in the U.S. In this role, he was responsible for lending and capital markets activities with upstream oil and gas clients. He was also instrumental in developing Credit Agricole’s High Yield Capital Markets and Commodity Derivatives businesses in the sector.
