CohnReznick, a professional services firm, added Michael Plostock as a director in its government and public sector advisory team. He brings more than 15 years of leadership experience in emergency management, disaster recovery, continuity of operations, risk management and strategic planning at the highest levels of the federal government.

Plostock joins CohnReznick from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), where he held senior leadership roles supporting complex disaster response, recovery and operational resilience efforts. As deputy chief of staff in FEMA’s Office of the Administrator, he helped direct business continuity and crisis management operations for a 22,000-person agency with a $30 billion budget during a period of presidential transition, ensuring uninterrupted service delivery and organizational stability.

Plostock also served as chief of staff and strategic advisor to FEMA’s largest operational unit, helping guide leadership through nearly 700 disasters nationwide. He also led high-profile recovery initiatives, including directing a 400-person team responsible for a $5.45 billion compensation program following the Hermit’s Peak/Calf Canyon wildfire in New Mexico.

“Michael’s deep understanding of how organizations prepare for, respond to and recover from disruptive events will provide tremendous value to our public sector clients,” Frank Banda, managing partner, government and public sector advisory at CohnReznick, said. “His expertise in continuity planning, crisis response, operational transformation, regulatory compliance and program governance will help agencies and organizations strengthen resilience, improve service delivery, mitigate risk and navigate increasingly complex operational challenges.”

Based in CohnReznick’s Metro DC offices, Plostock earned B.B.A., marketing and M.S., information technology degrees from The George Washington University.
