Pemberton Launches Wealth and Asset Management Solutions Initiative

Pemberton, a European private credit manager backed by Legal & General Group, launched Pemberton Wealth & Asset Management Solutions. This new initiative is aimed at providing access to private debt opportunities in Europe to wealth and asset managers and their clients.

Michele Baldessarini, a senior member of the business development team, will lead Pemberton Wealth & Asset Management Solutions as executive director. Baldessarini will also lead the effort to respond to varying target returns and risk parameters among managers and their clients. Pemberton will open all four of its strategies, which focus solely on corporate debt, to provide investors opportunities within the asset class.

With an approach to ESG, Pemberton provides credit risk analysis, the screening of assets and tracking of portfolio performance. In 2020, it became a carbon neutral firm and joined the Net Zero Asset Managers Commitment to support the target of net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 or sooner. Pemberton also introduced ESG-linked margin ratchets to encourage portfolio companies and their owners to become better corporate citizens.

“As one of the first and now one of the largest lenders in European private debt, we are always looking to evolve our offer by listening to our partners around the world about how we can better help in the delivery of their investment objectives,” Symon Drake-Brockman, managing partner at Pemberton, said. “Over the past year it has become clear that our approach fits well with the current needs of wealth and asset managers, all of whom are looking for stable investments which preserve and aim to increase the value of their portfolios over the long term. This opportunity is something they have been actively seeking and Pemberton Wealth & Asset Management Solutions is now offering these investors access to our pan-European portfolios, state-of-the-art credit underwriting systems and the wealth of expertise and experience that exists within Pemberton.”

“With this new initiative, we are looking to build long-term partnerships with top-tier global wealth and asset managers to provide their institutional and professional clients access to private debt,” Baldessarini said. “We firmly believe the asset class offers investors an incredible opportunity to achieve long-term diversified returns in a sustainable way and look forward to welcoming new partners and investors in the near future.”
