Justin Hewett has joined Mayer Brown in Houston as a partner in its Global Leveraged Finance and Private Capital Group. He joins from DLA Piper. Hewett’s arrival marks Mayer Brown’s continued growth and expansion into Texas.

“We are delighted to welcome Justin, who brings extensive experience and depth to our leveraged finance and private credit practices,” said Andrew Vouziers, co-leader of Mayer Brown’s Global Leveraged Finance and Private Capital Group. “Justin’s depth of experience further strengthens our ability to support private credit funds, banks, and other institutional lenders on a variety of complex transactions and we are delighted to continue to grow our finance presence in Texas.”

Hewett represents private credit funds, commercial banks and other institutional lenders in a broad range of domestic and cross-border debt financing transactions, including growth capital financings, acquisition financings, corporate lending and related restructurings and workouts. He advises clients on both sponsor-backed and non-sponsor-backed transactions, including financings involving complex collateral structures, intercreditor arrangements, and cross-border collateral issues. Hewett also advises on equity-linked features that often arise in growth financing transactions, including convertible debt, warrants and preferred equity.

“Mayer Brown has an outstanding reputation for sophisticated finance work and for its deep relationships with banks, private credit funds, and other institutional lenders,” said Hewett. “I was drawn to the strength of the firm’s global finance platform, its collaborative culture, and the opportunity to help grow the practice in Houston and beyond. I look forward to working with colleagues across the firm to support clients on their most complex financing transactions.”

“Expanding Mayer Brown’s Leveraged Finance and Private Capital Group is a key priority for the firm in Houston,” said Neil Wasserstrom, managing partner of Mayer Brown’s Houston office. “Justin’s arrival  strengthens our best-in-class finance practice as we support lenders, sponsors, and other financial institutions operating throughout the Houston market.”
