Legacy Corporate Lending, a specialty asset-based lender, appointed Anthony Masci as chief risk officer. Based in New York, Masci joins Legacy’s executive management team as the firm continues to grow its diversified ABL platform. He will work closely with the CEO, Clark Griffith, and chief investment officer, Paul Martin, in expanding the credit function, strengthening underwriting and portfolio management, while also contributing to the firm’s growth initiatives.
Masci brings more than 20 years of experience across asset-based lending, middle-market finance, specialty finance, trade finance and structured lending. Most recently, Masci served as the chief credit officer of working capital finance at First Citizens Bank (formerly CIT Group), where he led credit strategy, underwriting and portfolio management for an approximately $8 billion commercial lending platform. He oversaw a team of 75 professionals, with responsibility for complex middle-market and sponsor-backed transactions across a broad range of industries.
Prior to becoming chief credit officer, Masci spent 14 years at CIT Group as director and co-head of underwriting and portfolio management for its commercial and industrial and asset-based lending platform. He began his career in the global fixed income group at Bank of New York Mellon. He holds an MBA with concentrations in finance, financial instruments and markets, and economics from New York University’s Stern School of Business and a BSBA in finance from Boston University’s School of Management.
“Anthony’s depth of credit leadership across asset-based and middle-market lending makes him an ideal addition to our Executive Management Team,” Griffith said. “I look forward to working closely with Anthony as Legacy enters its next stage of growth and moves up-market into larger loan transactions.”
Masci added, “In just a few years, Legacy has established an impressive track record of delivering flexible financing solutions to service its borrowers and has built a scalable platform that is ready to grow. I look forward to working with Clark, Paul and the team to continue expanding the business to serve the middle-market asset-based lending market.”
