in News

Lawdragon named Leslie A. Berkoff, a partner at Moritt Hock & Hamroff, one of the 500 leading U.S. bankruptcy and restructuring lawyers for 2022.

Berkoff serves as the chair of Moritt Hock & Hamroff’s dispute resolution practice group, is the former chair of the bankruptcy practice group and serves on the firm’s management committee.

In the restructuring space, Berkoff concentrates her practice on Chapter 11 cases, bankruptcy, litigation and corporate workouts, representing a variety of corporate debtors, trustees, creditors and creditor committees both nationally and locally.

Berkoff’s dispute resolution practice has her frequently serving as an ad hoc and panel mediator. In addition, she is on the mediation panels for the Eastern and Southern Districts of the United States Bankruptcy Courts in New York and the United States Bankruptcy Courts in Delaware and the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Berkoff also serves as a member of the Second Circuit United States Court of Appeals’ pro bono appellate mediation panel, where she often focuses on bankruptcy appeals. Berkoff also serves as the chair of the mediation sub-committee of the Chapter 11 lawyers and judges advisory committee for the United States Bankruptcy Court, Eastern District of New York.

Berkoff previously served as co-chair of the American Bankruptcy Institute’s healthcare insolvency committee from 2008 to 2011 and co-chair of ABI’s mediation committee from 2018 to 2020. She is a contributing editor for the ABI Journal for a regular column entitled Mediation Matters and was co-editor of the ABI’s Bankruptcy Mediation Manual (2016) and its Healthcare Insolvency Manual, Third Edition (2012).

In addition, Berkoff also serves as the American Bar Association’s business law section’s representative on the dispute resolution advisory council and is the chair of the dispute resolution committee, the vice chair of programming for the business bankruptcy committee of the business law section and the vice chair of the bankruptcy study and policy committee. She also serves on the board of editors for Pratt’s Journal of Bankruptcy Law.

Editor’s Note: This article has been updated to correct a misspelling in the headline. ABF Journal apologizes for the error.
