Kevin M. Jacobs joined Alvarez & Marsal in Washington, D.C., as managing director and leader of the practice. His appointment demonstrates A&M’s commitment to expand tax services as clients increasingly face challenges in resolving and being compliant with the complexity of U.S. taxes.

Jacobs, an attorney and certified public accountant (CPA) with more than 15 years of direct tax-related experience, expands A&M’s ability to advise clients on resolving a broad range of U.S. federal income tax issues.

“Kevin brings a wealth of knowledge and practical experience in dealing with the most critical tax issues that corporations and transaction practitioners face today. His government experience will help our clients become prepared for the evolving regulatory environment and to effectively address tax matters,” said Ernesto R. (“Ernie”) Perez, the Global Practice Leader of Alvarez & Marsal Taxand.

Jacobs joined A&M Taxand from the IRS, where he served as a senior technician reviewer with the IRS Office of Associate Chief Counsel (Corporate) for more than six years. Jacobs advised the office and the public on a range of complex tax matters, including share-holder issues in a corporate reorganization, liquidations and redemptions, transfers to corporations, bankruptcies, spin-offs and consolidated returns.

Prior to joining the IRS, Jacobs worked for more than 10 years at several law and certified public accounting firms: Ropes & Gray,, Latham & Watkins, Dewey Ballantine and Arthur Andersen..
