Holland & Knight continued its strategic growth in Boston with the addition from Goodwin of nationally recognized search fund partner Monica Kwok. Kwok has significant experience representing search funds, independent sponsors and traditional private equity clients.
“Middle market M&A league tables consistently rank our Firm as one of the most active in the world. Last year, we closed over 700 transactions. The significant interest we are seeing from top partners in our market is recognition of the strength of our platform and collaborative culture,” Brian Leary, practice group leader for corporate, M&A and securities in Boston, said. “Monica’s addition increases the depth and breadth of our M&A and private equity practices in Boston.”
Kevin Christmas, co-head of Holland & Knight’s search funds and independent sponsors team, said, “We have the premier independent sponsor and search fund practice in the country, including significant teams in Charlotte, Philadelphia, Seattle and other markets. Monica significantly expands that practice in Boston, which is a key market in this space. I am delighted to work with Monica to further grow our practice.”
Kwok said, “With over 2,200 lawyers, one of the top M&A practices in the country and a true middle market focus, Holland & Knight was an easy choice for my permanent home. It is as if the Firm was built to service my clients. I am incredibly excited to grow my practice on the Holland & Knight platform using industry leading tools, such as the proprietary HK Deal Flow program. Holland & Knight is a leader in the independent sponsor and search fund space, and I’m looking forward to contributing significantly to its continued success.”
In addition to her legal practice, Kwok is a frequent writer and speaker on topics related to M&A, search funds and corporate governance matters.
Kwok received a J.D. degree from Harvard Law School and a B.A. degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
