Haynes Boone expanded its fund finance practice group leadership team with the appointment of Deborah Low and Brent Shultz as co-heads. As Low and Shultz step into leadership, Albert Tan, partner, will continue his role as global head of the group.

“We have experienced tremendous growth over the past half-decade, both in terms of new attorneys joining our team and in expanding our relationships and engagements with our fund finance clients, particularly over the last year,” Tan said. “From 2024 to 2025, our clients trusted us with a 34 percent increase in new deals, resulting in a 31 percent rise in billable hours. The group is operating at a scale that requires and will benefit from a broader leadership structure, and I’m excited and grateful to continue collaborating with Deborah and Brent in their new roles as a leadership team.”

Low and Shultz each bring significant experience advising lenders on complex fund finance structures, including subscription lines, NAV and hybrid facilities, GP and management loans and partner loan programs, supported by an established and tenured bench of fund finance attorneys across the firm.

Low focuses on subscription and NAV facilities and related leverage solutions, such as management fee lines and letter of credit facilities, and she also serves as co-chair of the firm’s industry-leading NAVember conference and the firm’s legal opinion committee. Shultz has structured and closed billions of dollars of bespoke fund finance transactions ranging from some of the largest syndicated deals in the market to tailored facilities for emerging managers, and he serves on the American Bar Association’s Fund Finance Subcommittee and the Fund Finance Association’s External Relations Committee.

“Spending my entire legal career at Haynes Boone has given me a deep appreciation for the culture and established platform that define our fund finance practice,” Shultz said. “Haynes Boone’s capabilities and collaborative culture position us well to continue delivering practical, scalable solutions for our clients.”

Together, Tan, Low and Shultz will oversee the practice across key markets in North America, Europe, Asia and Latin America to advance long-term strategic initiatives and continue to enhance the group’s reputation as a premier global fund finance practice.
