Global law firm Greenberg Traurig continued the strategic expansion of its private equity practice with the addition of Sidney Nunez as a shareholder in the Houston office. Nunez joins the firm from Willkie Farr & Gallagher, where he served as a partner.

“As part of our continued focus on enhancing our strong private equity and M&A practices worldwide, we are thrilled to welcome a highly accomplished private equity shareholder to our rapidly expanding Texas team,” Richard A. Rosenbaum, executive chairman of Greenberg Traurig, said. “The Texas market, with its unique position at the crossroads of energy, technology and investment, presents growth opportunities—particularly for private equity clients seeking to invest in the energy sector. Sidney’s addition reinforces our commitment to support our clients as they seek to capitalize on emerging opportunities.”

Nunez advises public and private companies, as well as private equity firms, on a broad spectrum of corporate transactions. His experience includes domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, restructurings and financings. Nunez’s practice has a strong focus on representing middle-market private equity clients, many of whom have a significant presence in Texas. His clients are heavily focused in energy, including the oil and gas, power and renewables industry. He also represents clients in infrastructure, industrials, consumer goods and business services.

“Sidney’s experience representing private equity sponsors in M&A transactions adds to our deep talent in private equity and ensures we continue to be well-positioned to help our clients navigate a rapidly evolving global marketplace,” Ejim Achi, Peter H. Lieberman and Bruce I. March, co-chairs of the private equity practice, said.

“Our Texas team has experienced remarkable growth in recent years, and Sidney is an outstanding addition as we look toward the future,” Shari L. Heyen and Frank Bradley, co-managing shareholders of the Houston office, said. “His expertise in the energy sector will further strengthen our capabilities and deliver value to clients. We look forward to the impact he will have in Houston and beyond.”

“I was attracted to Greenberg Traurig’s entrepreneurial culture, its strength in the Texas market and the global reach of the platform,” Nunez said. “The firm’s commitment to delivering strategic, client-focused solutions truly resonates with my own approach. I look forward to growing my private equity practice, working alongside a talented team in an environment that empowers attorneys to prioritize our clients’ needs.”

Nunez received his J.D. from Stanford Law School and an B.A. from University of Texas at Austin.
