Shannon Finch has joined Jones Day’s Sydney office as a partner in the firm’s M&A practice.

Ms. Finch brings extensive experience in capital markets transactions, including IPO’s, retail bonds, dual-tracks and crowdfunding; public mergers, acquisitions and restructures; corporate governance, including matters relating to directors’ duties and shareholder activism; and listed entities and securities law.

“Our M&A team in the Asia Pacific region will benefit immediately from the addition of an experienced professional like Shannon,” said Lyle Ganske, who leads Jones Day’s global M&A Practice. “She comes to us with a very strong reputation as a lawyer who truly understands a client’s needs and effectively represents their interests. I look forward to her contributions and I welcome her to Jones Day.”

Finch has advised on numerous government privatizations, private equity investments, and cross-border transactions including inbound and outbound investments from China and the U.S.

“We are very pleased that Shannon is joining us in Sydney,” said Chris Ahern, Jones Day’s partner-in-charge of Australia and Japan. “She brings a thorough understanding of the complexities involved with transactions in the region, and represents substantial additional value to what is already a very strong group of M&A lawyers.”

Finch is a guest lecturer on securities law and disclosure regulation masters courses at the University of Sydney and University of NSW. She is a regular speaker at equity capital markets, global M&A, hybrids, directors’ duties, and securities law conferences.
