Configure Partners, a middle-market investment bank, served as financing advisor and investment banker to SPB Hospitality and its sponsor, an affiliate of funds managed by affiliates of Fortress Investment Group, in securing committed debt capital to support its acquisition of J. Alexander’s Holdings (JAX).

SPB Hospitality is an operator and franchisor of casual dining restaurants with a footprint of more than 250 restaurants spanning across 39 states. SPB Hospitality’s portfolio of concepts includes Logan’s Roadhouse, Old Chicago Pizza & Taproom, Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery and Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant, among others. By acquiring JAX, SPB Hospitality will add 47 casual restaurants with brands such as J. Alexander’s, Stoney River Steakhouse and Grill, Redlands Grill, Overland Park Grill and Merus Grill.

“Configure was integral in every step of the process, from initial due diligence to close. Configure utilized its industry expertise and deep credit knowledge to navigate the credit universe to secure a great outcome and lending partners.” Jim Mazany, CEO of SPB Hospitality, said.

“The Configure team is thrilled to have worked with the SPB team on its acquisition of J. Alexander’s,” Jamie Hadfield, managing director of Configure Partners, said. “We are confident that the management team’s operational focus and rich history of leading restaurant brands will result in continued success for both SPB and J. Alexander’s.”
