California Bank & Trust (CB&T), a division of Zions Bancorporation and a financial institution serving businesses and individuals across the state, appointed Michael MacDonald as president. Reporting to CEO Eric Ellingsen, MacDonald will oversee CB&T’s commercial, corporate and specialty industry banking businesses, while working closely with the leadership team on the bank’s broader strategic execution and market expansion across California.

A seasoned financial executive with extensive leadership experience, MacDonald will also continue to lead Zions Capital Markets and serve on the executive management committee of Zions Bancorporation.

“Michael’s vision, strategic discipline and deep institutional knowledge make him an exceptional leader to serve as president of CB&T,” Ellingsen said. “Having built our power and project finance practice before expanding Zions Capital Markets into a nationally competitive platform, Michael brings the expertise needed to deliver sophisticated financial solutions and accelerate growth for our clients across California.”

MacDonald added, “California Bank & Trust has a strong reputation defined by local decision-making and deep client relationships. I look forward to working closely with the CB&T leadership team to build on that strong foundation. As our clients navigate complex, dynamic operating environments, we are uniquely positioned to pair the agility of a community bank with the resources and product capabilities of a large regional.”
