Blank Rome expanded its finance, restructuring, and bankruptcy practice with six new associates across major markets. The additions include Joseph “Joe” M. Robinson in Chicago, Shamila Kara in New York, and Cooper H. Moore in Dallas. Joining them are first year associates Eloise P. Greely in Houston, Brett F. Rodos in Philadelphia and Tala R. Ansari in Los Angeles.

“We’re excited to welcome Joe, Shamila, Cooper and our talented first-year associates to the finance, restructuring and bankruptcy practice,” Kevin J. Baum, partner and co-chair of the practice, said. “This strategic growth reflects our ongoing commitment to cultivating top-tier talent and strengthening our capabilities across key markets. These associates bring diverse experiences, skills and enthusiasm to the firm and practice that will contribute to our long-term success.”

Robinson brings extensive experience in corporate transactions, restructuring and bankruptcy law. He advises clients on acquisition financings, syndicated loans and strategic mergers. His practice includes negotiating complex credit agreements, handling security and pledge documents and providing regulatory guidance across highly regulated industries. Robinson joins Blank Rome after serving as vice president and assistant general counsel at JPMorgan Chase.

Robinson earned his J.D. from University of Illinois College of Law and holds his M.A. and B.A. from Southern Illinois University. He is admitted to practice in Illinois and serves as a member of the Chicago Bar Association and the Chicago Black Men Lawyers’ Association.

Kara focuses her practice on representing borrowers and lenders in complex financing transactions, including leveraged buyouts, recapitalizations and cross-border financings. She joins Blank Rome from Goodwin Procter.

Admitted to practice in New York, Shamila graduated from Georgetown University Law Center with her J.D. and earned her B.S. from Simon Fraser University. While in law school, she served on the Georgetown Environmental Law Review.

Moore advises on corporate transactions and financial analysis, with experience in mergers and acquisitions, equity financings and regulatory compliance. He also leads and supports due diligence efforts and deal execution for transactions ranging from multimillion-dollar mergers to asset acquisitions across a wide variety of industries. Moore joins Blank Rome from Dorsey & Whitney.

Moore received his J.D., cum laude, from SMU Dedman School of Law, and his B.B.A, summa cum laude, from Baylor University. He is licensed to practice in Texas and is an active member of the Dallas Association of Young Lawyer’s (DAYL) 2025 Leadership Class, and also serves on DAYL’s Transactional Law Committee, Bolton Ball Auction Committee and Social Committee.
