B. Riley Expands Appraisal Services with Addition of Field Examination Practice

B. Riley Advisory Services, a provider of specialty business advisory services, expanded its appraisal and valuation services with the addition of a dedicated field examination practice. This new practice will specialize in developing company-specific field examination procedures in collaboration with lenders to support new and existing credit facilities.

This new vertical will expand the services B. Riley provides to lenders, private equity firms and company borrowers, as this new service can be performed in conjunction with inventory, machinery and equipment and intellectual property appraisals.

“Our field examination practice not only strengthens our in-house appraisal capabilities but also provides incremental value to our clients through our ability to offer a more streamlined, holistic, and efficient process in the valuation of their collateral,” Michael Marchlik, co-CEO of B. Riley Advisory Services, said. “This product line group serves as a natural extension to our Advisory Services platform, and we look forward to growing this service under the leadership and expertise of Tom Scotti.”

Thomas Scotti, a veteran valuation and field examination expert who has experience performing field examinations for financial institutions servicing an array of industries, will lead the new practice as managing director.

Over the course of Scotti’s career, he has led and overseen the completion of more than 2,500 asset valuations and hundreds of due diligence assignments for more than 1,000 companies, both domestically and internationally. Prior to joining B. Riley in 2022, he was executive director at Hilco Global and previously worked at Gordon Brothers, Bank of America (predecessor Fleet Retail Finance) and Consensus Advisors. He is a member of the Secured Finance Network.
