ArentFox Schiff added Julia Zhu-Morelli to its corporate and securities practice in Los Angeles as a partner. Julia brings extensive experience representing U.S. and Chinese companies in complex corporate and transactional matters.

Zhu-Morelli advises companies on a wide array of domestic and cross-border corporate matters, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, greenfield investments, fund formation, private equity/venture capital transactions, licensing and general corporate matters. She also assists clients, as their outside general counsel, with their legal needs for their day-to-day business operations, such as regulatory compliance, labor and employment, financing, intellectual property and dispute resolution. Zhu-Morelli’s clients span various industries, including renewable energy, real estate, health care, manufacturing, E-commerce, logistics, consumer goods, telecommunications and automotive.

“With the dynamic between the United States and China shifting rapidly, companies engaging in cross-border transactions are urgently seeking guidance from attorneys like Julia who understand the nuances of this evolving business landscape,” David P. McHugh, the firm’s corporate and securities practice leader, said. “Her background representing and advising clients in highly complex corporate matters in both countries will be a tremendous asset for our clients.”

Fluent in English and Mandarin, Zhu-Morelli advises public and private Chinese and U.S. companies and private equity funds on structuring and implementing strategic corporate and commercial transactions in the United States. She also assists U.S. companies in establishing or expanding their business presence in the greater China Region.

Zhu-Morelli joins the firm from Reed Smith. Outside her practice, she serves as an ambassador of investment promotion and a trade representative for the government of the Chinese Jiangsu Province.
