Alvarez & Marsal added Managing Director Jean Chow-Callam to its Disputes and Investigations practice in Los Angeles, Hong Kong and Shanghai.

Chow-Callam will expand the group’s investigation capabilities, particularly regarding engagements involving China. A testifying forensic accountant, she brings more than 25 years of professional experience, particularly on issues related to risk management and compliance across various industries.

At A&M, Chow-Callam will specialize in financial investigations and analysis related to corporate governance, earnings management and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA). Additionally, she will advise on embezzlement issues, accounting process improvements, compliance programs, reverse merger, options backdating, cryptocurrency, corporate internal investigations, securities litigation, and other white-collar crime investigations resulting from the U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) reporting violations.

Chow-Callam has served American and China-based private and public companies, and her experience spans to engagements in Europe and Latin America. She will leverage her international perspective, professional experience and resourcefulness in Greater China to offer seasoned expertise on China-related disputes and help A&M’s clients navigate the complex regulatory and compliance landscape of cross-border deals.

“With mounting pressures on corporations to stay on top of the regulatory landscape and adapt to changing geo-political pressures, Jean’s insight and experience will be imperative in advising our U.S. clients with interests in China,” said Bryan Ruez, managing director and global co-leader of Alvarez & Marsal Disputes and Investigations. “China remains one of the fastest growing economies and expanding our capabilities related to China is a pillar of growing A&M’s Disputes and Investigations practice.”
