Global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) has expanded its capabilities by acquiring London-headquartered executive search firm Wilkinson Partners. Tom Wilkinson, founder and CEO of Wilkinson Partners, will assume the role of managing director and lead the newly-formed A&M Search (AMS) business.

With 20 years of executive search experience, Wilkinson has built a global reputation around hiring partners and C-level executives for professional services firms, private equity and financial institutions. Under his leadership, AMS will enhance clients’ organizational growth and revenue generation with senior-level executive hires.

“AMS demonstrates A&M’s commitment and ability to meet the evolving needs of specific industries,” Bryan Marsal, co-CEO and co-founder of Alvarez & Marsal, said. “Combining our legacy of operational excellence and interim management expertise with AMS will help clients solve current executive search challenges in anticipation of future needs. Tom and his team bring the search component to A&M’s results-driven mindset for addressing clients’ growth and profitability concerns.”

“A&M’s acquisition of Wilkinson Partners signals the firm’s understanding of the impact that executive searches can have on operational agility, strategic growth planning, revenue generation and risk mitigation,” Peter Sacripanti, managing director of A&M, who will oversee this new practice, said. “The acceleration of business growth and digitization is fueling executive search complexities. Our AMS business was created in response to market demand. Tom and his team will design and execute talent acquisition strategies that enhance clients’ competitive edge.”

“A&M’s operational orientation and results-driven mindset dovetail with my approach. The acquisition of Wilkinson Partners marks the first leg of our growth strategy,” Wilkinson said. “In addition to leveraging our professional services, private markets and financial institutions capability, we will also be expanding into public board and the full range of C-Suite searches as we continue to grow our talent base in the U.S., Europe and Asia.”
