Alvarez & Marsal Hires Mata to Expand CFO Services Team

Alvarez & Marsal appointed Omar Mata a managing director in its private equity performance improvement group. Mata joined the group’s CFO services vertical, where he will focus on assisting organizations in improving their finance/accounting functions.

“As financial executives face tremendous pressure to overcome the challenges and the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, it is our objective to offer advice that enables our clients to pivot to recovery on a stronger financial footing,” Nick Alvarez, managing director and national practice leader of A&M’s private equity performance improvement group, said. “Omar’s addition to the team strengthens our capability to support the CFO office and function as it addresses the short- and medium-term needs during these uncertain times.”

In his role, Mata will advise companies on improving performance through forecasting capabilities, process automation, technology integration, acceleration of close and consolidation processes, and improved reporting for decision-making. He has advised CFOs on finance transformation projects in more than 20 countries and has experience introducing digital transformation to CFO functions.

“Omar brings years of financial transformation expertise and a track record of success that will serve A&M’s clients effectively,” Richard Jenkins, managing director and leader of the CFO services practice of A&M’s private equity performance improvement group, said. “He joins us at a time when strategic operational improvement and sound financial management is critical to building stability. This is the unique ’secret sauce’ that the private equity performance improvement team offers to our clients.”

Prior to joining A&M, Mata spent 15 years at Deloitte Consulting U.S., where he was a partner. During this time, he created and led the finance transformation practice in South America. Mata was also previously a director of finance at a Fortune 10 organization.

Alvarez & Marsal is a global professional services firm that provides advisory, business performance improvement and turnaround management services.
