Alvarez & Marsal Expands Energy Practice with Addition of Senior Director

in People

Alvarez & Marsal added Craig Jones as senior director to its energy practice in Houston. Jones’ appointment reflects Alvarez & Marsal’s commitment to bolster its energy-focused offerings to support energy clients.

Jones, a 20-year veteran of the energy industry, has held numerous leadership roles across the oil and gas value chain, including in oilfield services, upstream, midstream and downstream sectors. He has served in both domestic and international markets. His sales and operations improvement experience spans products and services used in drilling, production, transportation and processing in traditional and unconventional oil and gas development.

At Alvarez & Marsal, Jones will focus on providing CFO services, merger and acquisition integration, strategy and operations management, and lean performance improvement for clients in the oilfield services and manufacturing sectors.

“Efficiency and economies of scale are critically important given the current state of the oil and gas market,” Lee Maginniss, managing director and national leader of Alvarez & Marsal’s corporate performance improvement’s energy practice, said. “Craig’s vast experience and industry knowledge aligns strategically with our group’s objective to serve our clients’ needs and address marketplace demands. As the energy industry is facing extreme challenges, coveted experts and senior leaders like Craig allow us to provide the leadership and results that our clients seek.”

Jones’ hiring follows the appointment of Rogers Herndon and Danny Boyer as managing directors to Alvarez & Marsal’s energy practice in March.

Jones’ experience includes leading strategy development, valuation, due diligence and agreement negotiation for transactions in North and South America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Jones also has provided corporate development leadership for joint ventures, including the creation of a joint venture with a national oil company in Asia.

Before joining A&M, Jones held management roles in which he navigated the intersection between shared services, finance and accounting, and value creation in international contexts. In these roles he created a shared service center in Asia, managed international tax and treasury, and established legal entities for new market entry.

Alvarez & Marsal is a global professional services firm that provides advisory, business performance improvement and turnaround management services.
