Alvarez & Marsal Bolsters M&A Capabilities with Corporate Real Estate Leader Golichowski

Global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) has appointed Michael Golichowski as managing director in its private equity performance improvement (PEPI) group, where he will lead the group’s corporate real estate and M&A transformation offering. His hire underscores A&M’s continued investment in senior talent with an entrepreneurial spirit to deliver tailored, value-driven solutions for private equity and corporate clients.

“Growing volatility and macroeconomic uncertainty will continue to impact deal volume,” Nick Alvarez, managing director and national practice leader of PEPI, said. “With holding periods already stretched, the pressure on PE firms for value realization is mounting. Michael’s unique combination of real estate fluency, transaction insight and operational acumen will help clients move quickly and decisively to solve real estate-related challenges at any stage of the deal life cycle.”

Golichowski has 20 years of experience advising corporate and private equity clients on real estate strategy, M&A transformation and performance improvement. He specializes in pre-deal diligence, integration and carve-out planning, portfolio optimization and full-cycle execution across sectors including industrials, advanced manufacturing, chemicals, aerospace and defense, healthcare, life sciences and private equity.

“We are excited to have Michael join our rapidly expanding real estate team,” Hunt Holsomback, managing director, PEPI and real estate industry leader, said. “He will enhance our capabilities in the corporate real estate space across the breadth of our merger acquisition services and transformation services, bringing both an industry and advisory perspective.”

“Real estate is often the last unturned lever in M&A, including the challenges of redefining the utility of the office after Covid,” Jeff Shaffer, PEPI managing director and M&A services practice leader, said. “Many companies are carrying excess space and right-sizing real estate footprints impact both cost and culture. Michael brings the expertise to align real estate with business strategy—driving efficiency, enhancing collaboration and building long-term enterprise value.”

Golichowski joins A&M from EY-Parthenon, where he was a principal in the transactions, strategy and execution practice in the corporate real estate offering. He has advised on buy-side and sell-side diligence, corporate carve-outs and integrations, tax free spins and real estate-enabled cost takeout and growth strategies. His notable engagements for major clients are exemplified by a tax-free spin and transformation for a global energy company that reduced facilities costs by $150+ million and unlocked $100+ million in non-core monetization initiatives.

“There is a unique commercial opportunity at A&M to build a market leading cross-industry M&A transformation practice specializing in corporate real estate,” Golichowski said. “The firm’s ability to quickly leverage its strong market position and harness the full spectrum of its outstanding team’s capabilities is especially valuable in today’s complex deal environment.”

Golichowski earned a bachelor of science degree in business with a concentration in finance from Indiana University. He holds a Master of Corporate Real Estate and Workplace (MCR.w) and is a licensed Commercial Real Estate Broker in the state of Illinois.
