CohnReznick, a professional services firm, added Alexander Fortner as a partner in the firm’s risk advisory practice. Based in Florida, Fortner will advise organizations on ways to strengthen risk management protocols, reporting, controls and process transformation using technology-enabled solutions.

As a senior risk advisory leader, Fortner has more than 15 years of experience in Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, internal audit, enterprise risk management and IPO readiness. This includes advising public and private companies on various risk, compliance and transformation matters involving transactions, fraud investigations and financial accounting.

Fortner has guided companies through the IPO journey, helping management teams use IPO and compliance procedures to drive transformation through process automation and data analytics-enabled controls testing. He has led audit engagements reviewed by the PCAOB, developed internal control testing strategies, prepared formal risk assessments and advised management teams on the design and optimization of business processes and control structures.

“Florida is, and will continue to be, a major region both in terms of business migration and CohnReznick’s strategic growth priorities,” Mike Tascher, partner and Florida market leader at CohnReznick, said. “Alex has a deep understanding of the Florida market and business culture, as well as an extensive track record helping companies up their game by leveraging technology to improve a range of critical risk management functions. We are looking forward to having Alex on our risk advisory team supporting our Florida clients as well as others across the country.”

Fortner joins CohnReznick from a Top 10 firm, where he served as the Tampa Bay region market leader in its risk advisory services practice. He began his career at a Big Four firm in its assurance practice. A Certified Internal Controls Auditor (CICA), Fortner earned a B.B.A. in accounting from Ohio University.
