Womble Bond Dickinson added Kyle Agee to its Charlotte office as a partner in the corporate and securities practice group on the private wealth team. Agee focuses his practice on tax, estate and succession planning for owners of closely held and family businesses, high-net-worth individuals, family offices and fiduciaries.

Spanning the full lifecycle of wealth planning and business transition, Agee advises clients on entity structuring, governance and the purchase and sale of closely held companies. His work extends to estate and trust administration, where he represents executors, trustees and beneficiaries, including in sensitive matters requiring both technical rigor and practical judgment.

“Kyle strengthens our ability to serve clients navigating complex, multi-generational tax and succession planning challenges,” Edward Griggs, the firm’s private wealth team leader, said. “His approach — integrating tax strategy with an understanding of family dynamics and business realities — is well-suited to support our clients’ needs and the work our team handles.”

Many of Agee’s clients have significant ties to North and South Carolina, and he is known for building flexible strategies that adapt as laws and circumstances evolve. He also advises regional financial institutions and their in-house counsel on complex fiduciary and estate matters, further broadening the firm’s capabilities in the market.

“Kyle brings a depth of experience and a trusted reputation across the Carolinas,” Sarah Stone, Charlotte office managing partner at Womble, said. “His ability to guide clients through some of the most consequential decisions they’ll ever face makes him a meaningful addition to our Charlotte office as we continue to build upon our strong foundation and look toward continued growth to match the ever-evolving Charlotte market.”

Agee is a fellow of The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and a Chambers-ranked lawyer.

Beyond his client work, Agee has played an active role in shaping North Carolina trust and estate law through his service on the legislative committee of the North Carolina Bar Association’s Estate Planning and Fiduciary Law Section, where he has authored and co-authored legislation enacted into law.

“I am excited to be joining Womble Bond Dickinson’s industry-leading private wealth team,” Agee said. “This transition signifies an exciting opportunity to advise clients on their complex and deeply personal estate, tax and business succession planning matters with the highest level of care, judgment and professionalism. I look forward to contributing to the team’s unparalleled reputation for thoughtful counsel and tailored service in supporting clients in preserving and planning for the future.”

Before attending law school, Agee served as a lieutenant in the United States Navy’s submarine force. A graduate of the Navy’s Nuclear Power School, he was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal and three Navy Achievement Medals. He earned his B.S. in mathematics from The Citadel, his J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law, and an LL.M. in taxation from the University of Florida.
