Global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) appointed Toronto-based Damian Peluso as a managing director with its global transaction advisory group (global TAG). Peluso’s extensive industry expertise, combined with his specialty in supporting owners, families and entrepreneurs with succession planning and divestitures, will further enhance the practice.

“Building TAG Canada over the last few years — under the exceptional tutelage of its leader, Scott Foster — has been a precise, deliberate expansion of our transaction services across North America. It’s a testament to A&M’s heritage of taking the opportunity for market entry when it presents — and scaling with equal parts rigor and agility to market conditions,” Paul Aversano, managing director and global practice leader of global TAG, said. “As we grow TAG Canada and cement our position to address local client needs, bringing in market-leading senior talent like Damian and Patrick Daoust doesn’t simply expand our roster—it builds our practice with the diverse, commanding expertise necessary to guide clients through sharply increasing deal complexity while helping them uncover value.”

For over two decades, Peluso has guided public and private companies through complex M&A, due diligence, strategic growth and the sale of the business. In combination with his tenured expertise in succession planning and preserving brand legacy, Peluso has managed hundreds of mid-market and large transactions across industries such as automotive, manufacturing, healthcare and food services. His experience also includes leading intricate due diligence efforts, carve-outs and sale processes. Most recently, Peluso was a partner in KPMG’s transaction services practice in Toronto, where he held numerous leadership roles including national private enterprise deals leader and national automotive leader.

“Canada is a growth market where the ability to deliver integrated service aligned with shifting market dynamics is critical for meeting private enterprise and mid-market sector transaction advisory needs,” Scott Foster, managing director and TAG Canada practice leader, said. “Building on the recent appointment of Patrick Daoust, Damian’s leadership will be instrumental as we further scale to meet evolving market demand with innovative solutions and freedom from audit conflicts. His experience and reputation, combined with A&M’s integrated global platform, are a winning proposition for business owners working on complex deals in a constantly changing environment.”

“A&M is a natural fit. The firm’s results-driven approach aligns with how I’ve worked with clients my entire career. Global TAG’s commitment to expanding senior talent and capabilities provides the ideal springboard for scaling our private enterprise offering,” Peluso said. “When navigating their most important transactions, clients rely on the confidence that comes from having the right people around the table. A&M brings the right talent, capabilities and experience to the table every time.”
