Aprio Legal added veteran litigator and former municipal judge Lori A. Metcalf as a director. She joins from a large national law firm.
A seasoned litigator and former Municipal Court Judge for the City of Phoenix, Metcalf brings more than three decades of experience in complex civil litigation, including construction law, medical malpractice, labor and employment law and government liability. She has also represented numerous dental and medical facilities and their providers, giving her unique insight into the legal needs of healthcare professionals.
Metcalf served as a Municipal Court Judge for the City of Phoenix for over 14 years, where she presided over thousands of matters and developed a reputation for fairness, efficiency and legal rigor. She also served as general counsel for an international construction company, managing high-stakes litigation and providing strategic legal counsel on large-scale public infrastructure projects across Arizona, California and Virginia.
“Lori is a respected leader whose career spans the courtroom, the bench, and the boardroom,” Andy Kvesic, CEO of Aprio Legal, said. “She has handled complex legal matters with exceptional skill and brings a track record of delivering meaningful results for clients. Lori’s arrival strengthens our litigation capabilities and supports our mission to provide integrated legal and advisory services that meet clients’ needs from every angle.”
Licensed in Arizona and admitted to practice in federal court and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, Metcalf has successfully defended clients in state and federal courts, including securing defense verdicts in complex jury trials involving construction claims, employment disputes and medical malpractice matters. She is also an adjunct professor at Arizona State University.
Metcalf joins Aprio Legal’s multidisciplinary litigation team, which includes experienced trial attorneys and arbitrators who are sought out by businesses across Arizona and the U.S. to manage litigation, internal investigations and compliance matters.
“Becoming part of Aprio Legal is an exciting step forward in my career,” Metcalf said. “It’s a privilege to join a team of attorneys whose depth of experience and commitment to client service truly stand out. I’m especially energized by Aprio’s integrated model — combining legal, accounting and advisory services — to deliver more comprehensive solutions to our clients.”
