MUFG

In a career spanning more than 30 years with financial institutions such as MUFG, Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase and Citi, Maureen Sullivan has progressively held senior roles providing working capital solutions — including supply chain finance and trade finance — to banking clients around the world.

“I often say that I am in the working capital business,” Sullivan says, noting that she and her team create solutions that offer liquidity, cost effective financing, risk mitigation and more, all to help clients become more efficient with their working capital, leading to improved profitability.

Outside of her work at MUFG, Sullivan is active in global industry associations such as the Business Association of Foreign Trade and the European Association of Corporate Treasurers. Sullivan has also chaired various Global Trade Review conferences; spoken at a variety of trade finance and working capital forums, including the Association of Finance Professionals’ annual conference, Working Capital Forum/E; and offered thought leadership in articles and interviews to a range of publications.

Sullivan is most proud of joining MUFG to relaunch and build out the firm’s supply chain finance business in the U.S. After joining, Sullivan led the acquisition of a fintech supply chain finance platform and stood it up within the banking environment.

Next came the launch of new solutions, creating a robust distribution desk and expanding MUFG’s offerings into Europe, North America (Mexico and Canada) and Asia. In five years at MUFG, Sullivan’s team has built the firm’s supply chain finance business into the global powerhouse it is today.

Sullivan has a quote from Robert Quillen she keeps at the top of her mind every day: “Progress always involves risks. You can’t [get to] second base and keep one foot on first base.” Sullivan uses this as motivation to ensure she sticks to her passions while knowing when to take calculated risks.
