Partner – Finance, Restructuring & Bankruptcy
Blank Rome

Mirlande Telfort has played a pivotal role in the asset-based lending industry by structuring innovative legal strategies for complex lending transactions while navigating the intricacies of collateral and risk management. She provides clients with tailored legal solutions while empowering them with the knowledge to make informed decisions that optimize their financial position.

Telfort began her career as an associate with Cahill Gordon & Reindel in 2010. She spent four years with the firm before joining McGuireWoods as an associate and partner until 2022, when she joined Blank Rome as a partner, a role she’s had for nearly two years. In her role, she represents banks, private equity funds and other investors in debt financing and leveraged financing transactions across multiple industries, including healthcare, life sciences and manufacturing, among others.

As an attorney, Telfort advocates for ethical practices that foster trust and transparency between borrowers and lenders. In her line of work, she has had to learn how to manage heavy workloads, bias and the pressures of the legal practice. In order to overcome these challenges, she has had to cultivate resilience by learning to manage stress, develop a work-life balance, build a strong and supportive network, and demonstrate exceptional competence and knowledge.

For Telfort, effective communication, both internally and externally, meticulous attention to detail and a client-centered approach are vital to drafting and analyzing documents, conducting productive negotiations, and providing accurate and effective legal advice.

As her career progresses, Telfort will seek to continue excelling as a legal expert in specialty finance transactions. She aims to contribute significantly to her firm, expand her network within the finance sector and pursue additional leadership roles both within and outside of her firm, with the ultimate goal of making impactful contributions to the finance and legal industries.
