Head of ABL Portfolio Management
Webster Business Credit

“How can I help you succeed?” is one of Caryn Alexander’s favorite questions to ask her colleagues.

Alexander’s greatest satisfaction comes from teaching, mentoring and coaching others on their own development. She firmly believes that no one ever succeeds alone, especially in a “team sport” such as asset-based lending. “You need to be adaptable and flexible in your thinking and approach from day to day,” Alexander says. “We work best when we work together, sharing ideas and helping each other out.”

Currently, Alexander serves as Webster Business Credit’s head of portfolio management, a role that was created when she joined the company. The role has granted Alexander the opportunity to be a change agent, bringing the same best-in-class client service, proactive risk management, teamwork and collaboration that she has led and fostered throughout her career. Along with her team of 21 colleagues, Alexander leads the company’s portfolio management effort for roughly 150 clients, representing just under $3 billion in commitments.

width=Since joining Webster, Alexander has made a significant impact in the implementation of new policies and procedures, as well as career development through training and coaching. She is shaping and structuring her role to align with the bank and its strategic goals while remaining focused on the end-to-end credit process, achieving this balance through the development of people, processes, technology and product solutions.

Throughout her career, Alexander has prioritized fostering a work environment that builds greater collaboration to enable teams to achieve their collective goals while always aiming to deliver excellence. She finds great joy in working collaboratively and guiding teams and individuals toward success. Going forward, she sees herself continuing to seek out new challenges and opportunities to expand her collaborative relationships, as well as her own personal education journey.
