The Commercial Finance Association awarded Michael D. Sharkey, president of MB Business Capital, its prestigious Life Time Achievement Award.

The award recognizes Sharkey’s accomplishments spanning a 40-year career in financial services, where he has excelled in many leadership roles, including that of CFA chairman. The organizations he has led have provided consistent support and commitment to the CFA, while MB Business Capital has thrived under his leadership and guidance.

“I am extremely pleased to congratulate Mike on this recognition,” said Mark Hoppe, president and CEO of MB Financial Bank. “I have worked with Mike for over 25 years and I have an incredible amount of respect for him, not only for the successful asset based lending business he has operated for many years but for how he has accomplished it. He hires strong, smart people, and makes certain they receive training and mentoring in all facets of the business. He knows his people, he challenges them, and he gives them the autonomy they deserve. This produces great employees which subsequently deliver great service to our clients. This ultimately results in employee and client loyalty which has been a hallmark of his distinguished career.”

“I’ve known Mike for my entire career and no one is more deserving of this award. During his successful career, he has proven to be both a true leader and great mentor to many colleagues. Our industry owes him a great deal of gratitude and respect.” said Dave Grende, president of CFA and president and CEO of Siena Lending Group.

MB Business Capital is the asset based lending division of MB Financial Bank. It seeks asset based lending opportunities in the $5 million to $50 million range and offers dedicated syndication opportunities of up to $100 million.
