Polaris Capital Management Promotes Crawshaw to Executive Vice President

in People

Polaris Capital Management promoted Jason Crawshaw to executive vice president. Crawshaw will serve in an executive management position concurrent with his role as a portfolio manager at the firm.

“This new leadership role will enhance firm-wide operational and technological efficiency without compromising Polaris’ focus in research and investing. We get the best of both worlds by having a tenured professional like Jason in this position,” Bernie Horn, president and portfolio manager at Polaris, said.

Crawshaw joined the Polaris team as an analyst in January 2014, became an LLC member in 2015, and was promoted to assistant portfolio manager in early 2016. In January 2021, he was promoted to portfolio manager, alongside colleagues Sumanta Biswas and Bin Xiao. All three portfolio managers are considered generalists, conducting fundamental analysis of potential investment opportunities and driving portfolio management decisions.

Crawshaw has more than two decades of experience in the industry, having previously served as a portfolio manager with Liberty Square Asset Management. At Liberty, he co-managed international long and long/short equity funds and helped direct the firm’s research effort. Prior to joining Liberty, he was a portfolio manager with Brait Specialized Funds U.S., where he managed a U.S. long/short small cap equity hedge fund. He served in a similar role at Equinox, a spin-off from Coronation Securities. Early in his career, Mr. Crawshaw was an equity analyst responsible for small- and mid-cap research for a proprietary fund at First Rand and Coronation Securities of South Africa.
