Turning Rock Partners, a New York-based private investment firm, hired Shahid Khoja as head of credit. Khoja brings nearly 20 years of experience across public and private credit investing and leveraged finance, with deep expertise in opportunistic credit, structured products and special situations.

Prior to joining Turning Rock Partners, Khoja was managing director and head of credit at Z Capital Group (ZCG), where he led a 12-person investment team and managed the firm’s overall credit strategy. During his tenure, he was responsible for investment execution across various funds, including opportunistic credit strategies and CLOs, while also serving on the firm’s credit investment committee. Khoja played an instrumental role in capital formation and investor engagement across ZCG’s credit platform.

Before ZCG, Khoja was a director at Garrison Investment Group, focusing on private credit, syndicated loans and stressed/distressed opportunities. He began his career at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in the corporate credit products group. Khoja holds a bachelor of arts in economics from Bowdoin College.

“Sha is a proven investor and leader with a strong track record across complex credit strategies,” Erin Andrew, senior managing director of Turning Rock, said. “His background across both public and private credit, combined with his collaborative approach and commitment to performance, makes him an ideal addition to our partnership.”

Khoja’s shared heritage with Turning Rock’s founding team, having previously worked with former Fortress Investment Group professionals, further enhances his alignment with the firm’s culture and long-term investment philosophy.

“We are thrilled to welcome Sha as our partner,” David Markus said. “The depth of his experience and leadership in credit investing will be critical as we continue to grow our platform and build differentiated credit solutions for growth-oriented companies.”

“I’m excited to join the Turning Rock team and help build on the firm’s thoughtful, long-term approach to investing in growing businesses,” Khoja said. “Turning Rock’s focus on credit and equity solutions for growing companies aligns closely with my experience and passion for creative, value-driven investing.”
