in People

James L. Ugalde joined Jennings Haug Cunningham as a partner with the firm’s banking, financial services and creditors’ rights practice. Ugalde previously practiced at JHC from 2004 to 2006 as an associate.

Ugalde provides various legal services to banks, other lenders, lessors, secured creditors and investors with respect to the perfection and enforcement of their rights under security documents and the Uniform Commercial Code, including asset-based financing and leasing. He represents creditors in matters involving debt collection and the foreclosure of security interests under state law and provides representation in Chapters 7, 11 and 13 bankruptcy cases. Ugalde also is experienced in advising commercial landlords regarding their contractual and statutory rights, including enforcing such rights through eviction actions and lockouts. Ugalde also has a transactional law practice, primarily relating to work-outs of defaulted leases and loans.

“We are very pleased to welcome James Ugalde back to JHC,” John Sinodis, managing partner of the firm, said. “During the several years that he worked with us, early in his career, it was clear that Jim would be an excellent lawyer. We followed Jim’s career over the years and could not be more pleased to have him return to the firm. His experience in commercial litigation and creditors rights will add depth to our financial services practice.”

Ugalde has been recognized by Southwest Super Lawyers in the creditor debtor rights category. He is admitted to practice in the state of Arizona, before the U.S. Court of Appeals, 9th Circuit and U.S. District Court, District of Arizona.

Founded in 1937 in Arizona, Jennings Haug Cunningham is a litigation law firm.
