Hengstler Joins Haynes Boone in Rapidly Growing Orange County Office

David Hengstler joined Haynes and Boone’s Orange County office from Sheppard Mullin, where he spent the last two decades working in finance and real estate.

Hengstler primarily works with banks, lenders and borrowers in connection with a broad range financing transactions, including secured and unsecured credit facilities, real property secured facilities, inventory and equipment financing transactions, syndicated facilities, subscription facilities and asset-based lending facilities.

Hengstler is the third addition to the real estate practice group in the last two months, following W. Stephen Wilson in San Francisco and Joe Sarcinella in New York City. He is also the fifth partner to join the firm’s growing Orange County office since September, and the third since the turn of the new year, joining Paul Tobin and Martin Florman.

“I am ecstatic for the opportunity to assist Haynes Boone in growing its real estate and finance practices both in California and across the country,” Hengstler said. “This is a unique chance to make an impact at a pronounced firm, and I am very excited to get started.”

Hengstler has a wealth of experience representing lenders in connection with equity investments in various real property-related ventures, as well as experience in general real estate matters. While his practice is focused primarily on structuring, planning and documentation on behalf of lender clients, he has substantial experience with loan workouts and the bankruptcy related aspects of financial transactions.

“David’s extensive experience in real estate finance will be an invaluable asset to our practice and to our firm,” Troy Christensen, co-chair of the real estate practice group, said. “His addition further strengthens our ability to provide sterling service to our clients, and we’re thrilled to have him on board.”

Outside of the office, Hengstler has worked with KidWorks for nearly a decade and currently serves on its board of directors. KidWorks is based in Santa Ana and aims to serve youth and families through a licensed preschool, after-school programs, tutoring, mentoring, college and career readiness, family services and leadership development.
