First Citizens Bank’s middle-market banking business hired Nathan Pusey as managing director and Northeast market executive and John Tyson as managing director and relationship manager. Both will be based in Boston and support the expansion of First Citizens’ middle-market banking business’ capabilities and market coverage in the Northeast.

“We are excited to bring Nathan and John on board as we build our presence and expand our capabilities in the Northeast,” Brendan Chambers, who leads First Citizens Middle Market Banking, said. “Both Nathan and John bring a breadth of middle-market banking experience to First Citizens, and we look forward to supporting them as they cultivate new relationships and deliver exceptional service in Boston and the surrounding region.”

Pusey will be responsible for acquiring and managing a portfolio of middle-market banking relationships, delivering commercial banking products and services, and leading a team of relationship managers. He will report to Chambers.

Pusey has more than 35 years of financial services experience, most recently serving as the market executive for City National Bank’s commercial banking services in New England, where he led a team of bankers and delivered customized financial solutions to commercial businesses. Prior to joining City National, he served as managing director and market leader with Commerce Bank and Trust’s commercial banking division in Boston. Prior to that, he served as market leader for Citibank’s New England market.

Tyson will be responsible for developing middle-market banking relationships, delivering commercial banking products and services, and serving as the primary relationship management contact to identify client needs and ensure high quality service. Tyson will report to Pusey.

Prior to joining First Citizens, Tyson served as a senior relationship manager at City National Bank/Royal Bank of Canada, where he originated and managed middle-market lending opportunities throughout the Northeast and in select national markets. Prior to that, he served as senior relationship manager at Commerce Bank/Berkshire Bank, where he managed a portfolio in the lower middle market throughout New England. Tyson also served in several national and New England-focused lending roles at various financial institutions.
