Eversheds Sutherland hired Todd C. Meyers within its U.S. finance practice group in Atlanta as a partner and co-head of the U.S. restructuring and insolvency team, which he will co-lead with David Wender, partner of the company.
As a nationally-known and Chambers USA Band One-ranked restructuring adviser, Meyers focuses his practice on bankruptcy and insolvency matters. He represents creditors’ committees, liquidating trusts, indenture trustees, secured lenders, distressed asset buyers and debtors in both workouts and bankruptcy proceedings.
He has extensive experience in the representation of official creditors’ committees, indenture trustees/loan agents for defaulted debt issuances and secured and unsecured creditors, including for matters valued in the hundreds of millions and billions of dollars.
The addition of Meyers to the restructuring and insolvency team is the most recent step in the finance practice group’s steady growth since its formation in early 2022. Most recently, Renée Dailey, partner, and Jennifer Kimble, senior counsel, joined, expanding the team’s financial restructuring and related capabilities. Over the last two years, the group has added nine attorneys and made several internal attorney promotions.
“I am excited to welcome Todd to our growing finance practice group, which has expanded rapidly to provide clients with sophisticated support in banking and finance,” Mark D. Wasserman, co-CEO of Eversheds Sutherland, said. “Todd’s more than three decades of bankruptcy and financial restructuring experience will be a valuable addition to our clients with needs across the credit continuum.”
“Todd has excelled in building a highly regarded and diverse practice that guides clients through financial restructuring complexity, which complements our team’s continued growth,” Wender said. “Our financial clients will benefit from his strong track record of cross-industry representations and his deep insights into the many stakeholder groups and fast-moving processes that are characteristic of distressed financial situations.”
Prior to joining Eversheds Sutherland, Meyers was a partner and team leader of the bankruptcy and financial restructuring team of an international law firm. He is active in legal industry and other professional activities, with multiple national and state trade group memberships, including as an executive committee member of the W. Homer Drake, Jr. Georgia Bankruptcy American Inn of Court.
