Michael Freeman has joined Haynes and Boone as a Dallas-based partner in the firm’s Energy Practice Group.

Freeman handles a broad array of matters in the middle-market energy sector, including mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, securities offerings and other entity governance and commercial transactions. He primarily advises private equity-sponsored midstream and upstream energy ventures.

“Mike has built a strong practice handling energy M&A and other corporate matters,” said Jeff Nichols, Haynes and Boone partner and co-chair of the Energy Practice Group. “He is an impressive addition to our team who will benefit clients with his skill, experience, and business-minded approach to addressing their needs in a targeted and efficient manner.”

Freeman began his law practice as a member of Vinson & Elkin’s Corporate group and was most recently at Winstead, where he was a shareholder in the firm’s Corporate and M&A sections. His practice includes recapitalizations, joint ventures, distressed asset sales and acquisitions, securities compliance and private offerings, and general business law matters. He has worked on transactions involving many of the most active energy regions in the U.S.

“I was drawn to Haynes and Boone because of its reputation and deep bench in the Energy Practice,” Freeman said. “I have worked with Haynes and Boone lawyers on a number of deals over the years and have been consistently impressed.”
