John Macrae rejoined CohnReznick, an advisory, assurance and tax firm, as managing director within the firm’s restructuring and dispute resolution practice. Based in New Jersey, Macrae has 25 years of experience in executive management and management consultancy with a focus on leading and transforming growth-oriented businesses across multiple industries.

Macrae has skills in financial planning and analysis, business strategy and M&A. As a finance and operations professional, he uses data-informed decision-making to optimize business processes. Macrae has helped businesses align people, processes, information, controls and technology to improve effectiveness and efficiency, boost cash flow and profitability and increase value. His industry experience includes manufacturing and distribution, consumer, financial services, engineering and professional services, construction and not-for-profit.

Before joining CohnReznick, Macrae was the CFO and COO for a beer wholesaler in New Jersey. In this role, he led a third-generation family business through a transformation to become a more data-driven organization focused on continuous improvement. Utilizing lean methodology, he helped cross-functional teams build a finance and operations platform that leveraged technology to boost capacity and support sustainable, profitable growth.

“As supply chain, inflationary pressures and the ongoing pandemic continue to impact business growth and profitability, our restructuring and dispute resolution practice continues to help clients effectively manage change despite uncertainty,” Cynthia Romano, global director of CohnReznick’s restructuring and dispute resolution practice, said. “John’s extensive experience in interim management, performance improvement and restructuring will greatly benefit our clients and the continuing growth of our practice.”
